When the mind leads the body will follow. Conversely, when the body leads the mind will follow. Two divergent paths to choose from. That is the age old dilemma of humankind. It is an inner struggle which we have not been winning.
If there is a legal sort of anarchy, it would begin here. Most of America's forefather's were freemasons (educated in master stonemasonry on spiritual levels). Their philosphy about building the United States of America, from its founding to the very stars above Washington D.C., swiveled on the freedom of Socrates, as you have mentioned it; independent of Great Britain. The forefathers created a house within which the human mind could live to find the very freedom Malcolm X must have found in jail. So, when people say the U.S. is a prison for the mind, they are not far from the truth. To see our country as a house for the mind, though, is closer to the truth. Even our language -- American English -- is in the process of deconstructing English and creating "free speech"; "freedom of expression;" "the right to vote." Everyone's experience with this "mind in a house" is unique, like every member of a family's under one roof who develps a unique perception of themselves in relation to each other and thus is independent; is free.
